Basho Expansion

Paul-Eerik Rummo’s Basho Expansion takes its cue from Matsuo Bashō’s famous frog pond haiku. As ripples spread from the frog’s leap, one verse opens into another.

Every word in a verse leads to a verse that begins with the same word. Choose a word, then choose another. Your path through the poem grows with each choice.
